Champion Beer: In The Pines

We’re absolutely stoked to share that we’ve taken home Champion Beer at this year’s Royal Perth Beer Awards.
The beer that brought it home? In The Pines.
In The Pines is packed with hops but goes easy on the bitterness. This hazy, tropical-style IPA delivers a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and bursts with juicy notes of citrus, pineapple, and stone fruit. It’s brewed with a heap of passion, and we reckon this award is a testament to the quality our brew team pours into every batch.
Director Iliya Hastings says "ITP was our first attempt at a hazy IPA/Neipa back in 2018. Hazys were just emerging and we threw a pile of hops and rolled oats at our brand new beer. We named it after a local mountain biking track, a famous nirvana cover song and some of the piney and fruity notes in the beer. Everyone said that hazies would only last a year or two - in the pines certainly it disproved that and we are pretty stoked it did."
Head Brewer Ryan Allen "We're all stoked with the big win here at Margaret River Beer Co. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication that is put into every brew by the whole team. There's a huge amount of excellent beer coming out of WA at the moment, so for one of our beers to be judged as the best in class really means a lot to us."
This is a huge moment for us. In a state that’s full of with world-class breweries and outstanding beer, being recognised with this is something we’re incredibly proud of.
This win is for everyone who’s supported us along the way. From the locals who’ve been drinking our beers since day one, to the visitors who drop in for a pint at the Brewhouse, to the legends behind the scenes who make this place tick - this one’s for you.
So what now? We celebrate (obviously). We keep brewing what we love. And if you haven’t tried In The Pines yet – now’s the time.
Swing by the Brewhouse or your local bottle-o and raise a beer with us.
Cheers,
The Margaret River Beer Co. Crew 🍻
